Middle School Dance
Sponsored by the Howard High School Horizon Club & The Dancel Family Center Y
Saturday, March 13th 7:30 – 9:30 pm
Schools invited: Ellicott Mills, Bonnie Branch, Elkridge Landing Middle Schools
Cost: $5.00 (includes one drink and one snack; additional drinks and snacks 25)
Tickets: sold at the door
Proceeds go to: Creating scholarships for middle school student memberships and program activities
DJ: Spotlight Entertainment (approved by Ellicott Mills PTA)
Chaperones: Dancel Family Center Y staff and Howard High School Horizon Club members.
(The Horizon Club is a community service club that provides volunteer opportunities to Howard High School students.)

Rules apply:
Parents/guardians are asked not to drop off students prior to 7:25 pm, and to pick them up promptly at 9:30 pm. Doors open at 7:30 pm. Drop off and pick up are located at the lower level gym entrance facing Veterans Elementary School. Parking is available at the school.
Soft soled shoes only. No heels. Shoes must be worn at all times. Clothing must meet HCPSS standards. Students who are dressed inappropriately will not be permitted to enter the dance.
Students are asked not to wear or bring anything valuable to the dance. There is personal belonging storage space available.
For safety reasons, any actions that endanger others will not be tolerated. Inappropriate dancing will not be permitted. Students unable to follow these rules will have a parent/guardian called and be asked to leave the facility.
Any student determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance will be detained until a parent/guardian arrives to pick him/her up.
Students will not be allowed to leave the dance until a parent/guardian has arrived to pick him/her up. Parents/guardians are asked to come into the facility to pick up their child(ren).
RECYCLE RECYCLE RECYCLE
The shark shop is collecting used ink cartridges and recycling them to help purchase school supplies for the shark shop. When your child needs a journal, folder, pen or pencil they can use their scholar dollars and get one at school. Please help us out by dropping your used ink cartridges in the box at the front office. Thanks!
Poetry Slam
A successful Poetry Slam was held on Feb. 19th! County Executive Ulman Schedules Two Public Hearings on FY 2011 Budget
ELLICOTT CITY, MD – County Executive Ken Ulman invites citizens to share their budget priorities for FY2011 at one of two public hearings. The first will be held on Wednesday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m., in the Board Room of the Department of Education Building, 10910 Route 108 in Ellicott City. Executive Ulman will also hold a second hearing during daytime hours on Monday, March 22 at 1:30 p.m., at the Elkridge Senior Center, 6540 Washington Boulevard in Elkridge.
Citizens can sign up ON LINE to speak at the March 17 hearing by going to the County's website at www.howardcountymd.gov and clicking on the Budget Testimony link provided near the top right corner of the homepage. Sign up for the March 22 daytime hearing will be available beginning March 18.
From the same link, citizens will also have the option to provide on-line budget testimony; however, citizens are reminded that internet testimony is considered public information and, as such, is subject to the Freedom of Information Act.
Citizens who do not wish to sign-up on line will still be able to sign up in person just prior to the start of the hearings. Sign-up for the March 17 hearing will begin at 6:30 p.m., and sign-up for the March 22 daytime hearing will begin at 1 p.m. Speakers must sign-up individually, and one person may not sign-up for several testifiers.
An interpreter for people who are deaf or hard of hearing will be available, if requested, seven days prior to the event. Call the Department of Citizen Services at 410-313-6400 (voice) or use Relay or 7-1-1 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
